Sometimes, it feels like our devices have a lot more control over us than we have over them.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Amy Crouch is a rare 19-year-old. In a Snapchatting, Instagram-influencing and digital native generation, she grew up with minimal technology.

For Parents and Teens

Writing directly to teens, Amy and Andy unpack tech temptations–such as the temptation to distract ourselves from any potentially boring or awkward situation, or to stay up-to-date with every notification and trend–and then offer antidotes that lead to more patience, wisdom, honesty and wonder in life.

For Leaders of Youth and Teens

Devices and social media impact teens’ friendships and family life, their sense of self-worth and even how well they think they know themselves. This book can help them reevaluate their relationships with technology–and renew their relationships with the world around them.

Growing Up and Making Choices in a World of Devices

Amy Crouch is a rare 19-year-old. In an Instagramming, Instagram-influencing and digital native generation, she grew up with minimal technology. In My Tech-Wise Life, she and her father, Andy Crouch, share how intentional and controlled use of modern devices, apps, and services has helped her avoid many of the negative experiences of her peers and cultivate positive experiences interacting with the real world.

With writing that connects on a teen-to-teen level, Amy and Andy unpack tech temptations–such as the temptation to distract ourselves from any potentially boring or awkward situation, or to stay up-to-date with every notification and trend–and then offer antidotes that lead to more patience, wisdom, honesty and wonder in life.

Everyday Steps for Putting Technology in Its Proper Place

Making good choices about technology is more than just using internet filters and limiting “screen time.” It’s about developing wisdom, character, and courage in the way we use digital media, rather than accepting technology’s promises of ease, instant gratification, and the world’s knowledge at our fingertips.

Drawing on in-depth original research from Barna Group, Andy Crouch helps readers ask deeper questions about tech and family life: Who do we want to be as a family? How does our use of a particular technology move us closer or farther away from that goal? This book is for anyone who has felt their family relationships suffer or their time slip away amid technology’s distractions, and wants to reclaim real life in a world of devices.
